Madras - Essayist Bag

The Essayist Bag is inspired by the iconic shape of the postman’s bag, reflecting the need for mail carriers to transport letters and necessary packages neatly and securely during their long journeys. With a vertical format, practical outer pocket, and lightweight design, this bag is crafted to facilitate quick access while keeping items safe, much like the original function of the postman’s bag. Featuring one of the illustrations from the novel Ragam Ni Si Marian by Kartini Sjahrir, this bag is inspired by the Madras motif, which reflects the interweaving of European and Asian textile cultures. It showcases the distinctive checkered pattern symbolising life’s journey and timeless beauty.

As an added feature, the Essayist Bag comes with two hooks for the Bien Strap, allowing it to be used as a shoulder bag, just like the inspiration behind this design. The Bien Strap is sold separately in various lengths and colours, providing flexibility to complement your style and needs.

• The interior of the bag uses our signature lining. This lining fabric is a highly durable water-repellent fabric, created using the most advanced technology from recycled PET bottles and post-consumer materials.
• All the zippers use YKK NATULON®, made from recycled PET and post-consumer materials.

• Comes with a dustbag, made from pure cotton textile.
